Top best answers to the question «Are animals harmful to the environment»

  • Animals play an important role in keeping ecosystems balanced, healthy, and strong. And, like humans, animals can respond to an imbalance with extreme behavior that can be harmful to the environment. Many of these animals are invasive, and only cause problems once introduced to an area with no natural predators.

"Native" animals are defined as not being harmful to an environment without humans, they would be considered part of a balance. If the environment has become unbalanced, then their actions, perhaps predatory can be harmful to certain species. However, many plants and animals have spread beyond their native areas, and are often considered to be "invasive species". Often natural control mechanisms have not been also imported or otherwise evolved, and these invasive species can be extremely harmful to the environment.
