On Tuesday, news reports said Fairway was preparing to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and would close its 14 stores in the New York area. Hours later, a Fairway spokeswoman denied those reports.

Last time I checked it was reported that Fairway was filing Chapter 11 (Reorganization) and not Chapter 7 (Liquidation). Then they sent out a WARN notice indicating failure to find a buyer for several stores including the Westbury store and planning large layoffs. Then they advised that the Westbury store would be closed between June 5 and June 19.
