Top best answers to the question «What is the difference between a weather watch and a warning»
- Watches are issued by the NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC), and warnings are issued by local offices of the National Weather Service(NWS). “A watch is issued when conditions are favorable, for example, either for a severe thunderstorm or tornadoes,” AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Dan Kottlowski said.

A tornado/thunderstorm watch means that weather conditions are good for tornado/thunderstorm. A tornado/thunderstorm warning, however, means that conditions are extreme and a thunderstorm or tornado is likely. Conditions for either storm are very good at this stage.
