We have our first landslide victory! The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is just hands down better than Melt-Away Bay at Blizzard Beach. The former has large six foot waves every ninety seconds while the latter is more of a wake pool.

Typhoon Lagoon really feels like a park, with different areas and lots to do. For a family it is the better choice by far. You can easily spend all day here and still want to come back. My son loved it here. There is something wrong with Blizzard Beach. It looks fine at first but it is just laid out badly.

Although the theme of Typhoon Lagoon is probably more appealing for adults the combination of the cute theme along with having more options that appeal to a wide range of kids of all ages makes Blizzard Beach the winner of the best Disney water park for kids.

Broadly speaking, Typhoon Lagoon is more "relaxing" and Blizzard Beach is more "thrilling". BB has brilliant rides, but your 6 year old may be scared to ride a lot of them even if she is a good swimmer.
We liked Typhoon Lagoon more than Blizzard Beach. The Shark Reef, the wave pool and the lazy river give Typhoon Lagoon the edge. Humunga Kowabunga, Crush 'n' Gusher and Storm Slides are fun slides.
LolliFranklin Actually, I would still recommend Blizzard Beach, as the “thrill rides” at this park are more enjoyable and thrilling than the ones at Typhoon Lagoon. **CM Tip: Try going later in the day if you go in the summer.
I believe that if they were smaller or weaker swimmers, they may have ranked Blizzard Beach higher, but both seemed to like the tropical theming of Typhoon Lagoon slightly better. The ski lift at Blizzard Beach was really neat but not enough to put Blizzard Beach over the top. Whichever way you go, though, I bet you'll have a blast.
